The Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced) is India's premier engineering entrance examination exclusively for admission to undergraduate programs in the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Conducted by IITs on a rotational basis since 2013, JEE Advanced is one of the world's most competitive engineering entrance examinations. The exam is conducted in two papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2), each of three hours, conducted on the same day with a 3-hour gap. The examination tests advanced concepts across Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, requiring deep conceptual understanding and high-level problem-solving skills. Only candidates among the top 2.5 lakh scorers in JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. Approximately 15,000-16,000 seats are available across IITs through JEE Advanced, making the selection rate less than 1%, among the lowest globally. The examination is conducted in multiple languages including English and Hindi. IIT-wise counseling and seat allocation follows after JEE Advanced results, where candidates choose their preferred IIT and engineering specialization based on merit rank and available seats.
