a small note

बताओtell me.

We named the engine after the way India actually asks. Bataao, बताओ, is the imperative of बताना — "to tell." It's what you say to a friend, a shopkeeper, a teacher, a stranger across a counter when you want to know something. Tell me. Just tell me.

The web search you use today was designed for a different country, a different decade, and a different idea of what knowledge looks like. The blue link, the long page of ten, the privileged English-first answer — none of it was made for the India that types in nine scripts and asks in voice as often as in text.

Bataoo is an attempt at something else. You ask, in any language; we tell, in the same one. We show our sources, not a list of links. You wonder, you connect, you go further.

We don't ask you to learn our shape. We try to learn yours.

बताओ — and we will.
